About Roger
Having gone through HUBS191 & CELS191 myself, I understand both the challenges of the course and the pressure that comes with it.
One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is that I've recently been in the same position as my students. Because the age gap is smaller, many students find it more comfortable to ask questions, admit when they're confused, and learn in a more relaxed environment. I remember what it was like to transition from high school to university and the study strategies that helped me succeed.
I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students build confidence in subjects they may be struggling with. My goal is to make difficult concepts easier to understand and help students feel more prepared for assessments and exams.

Helping students understand concepts rather than memorizing them. My teaching style is relaxed and highly specifically tailored to each student's needs. Having recently completed HUBS191 and CELS191 myself, I know which topics students commonly struggle with and the study methods that work best for these papers.
Lessons are typically around 60 minutes long and involve going through difficult concepts, answering questions, working through practice problems, and preparing for tests and exams. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and learning at their own pace.
I am a current Health Sciences student at the University of Otago and recently completed these papers, so the content that I teach is all up to date. My lessons are aimed at high school students who are looking to take HUBS191 & CELS191 papers at Otago University and are wanting to get a head start.
