About Louis

Hi, I’m a recent graduate from Cambridge (History and Politics BA). I love the Cambridge teaching style of supervision and hope to emulate that style of interactive discussion, helping you formulate your arguments through questioning, discussion and debate. I have tutored History, Politics and Oxbridge admissions both privately and through agencies for a year. I have also taught English, drama and debate to children aged 7-16 in China as part of the Ivy, Oxford, Cambridge Camp.

About the lesson

I'm flexible in my approach to tutoring and can ajust my style according to aims and needs. I can talk through content, coach exam technique, help with essay writing skills, mark essays, and explain how to use the mark scheme to your advantage. I can also help with Oxbridge applications, giving guidance on personal statements and peforming mock interviews. I love engaging in discussion and debate. I find, for many students, this is both an enjoyable and effective way to improve information retention, deepen understanding and develop their own arguments.

I found Louis to be an excellent tutor for my son. He was able to adapt so quickly to my son's specific problem of knowing the content but being unable to write high-mark essays. Louis was able to efficiently and effectively show what my son needed to add and remove from his essays. I highly recommend him as a tutor due to his efficiency.

I worked with Louis on a prestigious Oxbridge mentoring program in mainland China. As head of the department, I was particularly impressed with the outstanding enthusiasm that Louis had for the academic progress and wellbeing of each of his students. His teaching is both rigorous and down-to-earth, and he truly strives to make sure every student performs at the best of their ability.
