About Alp
My strongest qualities as a tutor would be that I'm very straightforward, understandable and empathetic towards children of any age and any learning difficulty. I strongly believe in tutoring that emphasises the 'understanding' of a subject, rather than purely memorising information. Moreover I am very passionate about the subjects that I teach, and therefore love to (try and) instil my passion through the teaching, in hope of developing a similar passion towards a particular subject that they have difficulty in, within the student. I have private tutored children studying chemistry up to A level standard for five years, as well as IGCSE Physics. I have recently graduated with a Master's in Organic Chemistry from Imperial College London and I'm more than happy to share my experiences of going to University in London :)

Typical length of lessons span from 60-90 minutes depending on the general workflow of the lesson. Each session is personalised for every student as I strongly believe teaching methods benefit differently and uniquely for every student; this is a technique I have refined over the 5 years of private tutoring. I love to work with students because I can empathise with them greatly about the difficulties of classroom learning, which include feelings of being let down by teachers! Furthermore, the difficulties brought around by the pandemic has made me even more determined to provide students the education they deserve! Whether it's improving exam technique or having an increased understanding around the sciences, I aim to unlock students' full potential towards learning and make the most out of my sessions. I facilitate this by using both visual and kinaesthetic techniques, including a summary of the session in the last 10 minutes. I also provide worksheets to be completed between sessions. I teach Chemistry up to University level as well as Biology and Physics up to IGCSE level.
