About Vivienne
I trained as a biologist, historian then doctor on the GAMSAT programme at Barts and the London and psychologist in education at UCL. Now having taken early retirement from medical lecturing I am working at Harley Street privately in a medical and psychological role. I still enjoy my teaching though so I am now available to teach privately. I take classes at Harley Street on entry to medicine and also teach many medical and associated students in the summer when they unfortunately fail their exams. If you are in need of some advice on how to enter medicine or gaining a pass in upcoming retakes please get in touch. I also teach dentists and physiotherapists amongst other disciplines. Please enquire and ask for advice on anything educational as I have worked in education for 25 years now and was a teacher before going into medicine. I would rather talk you through my CV than leave one on the site and talk about your individual needs than place a video here, as I feel it's important to ascertain your individual needs as a student and for you to know me and be very happy before going forward to organise extensive tuition.

I have been a tutor for many years now and have gained a wealth of experience in that time. My teaching method is to maintain a student-centred approach. The student must stay within the zone of proximal development according to Lev Vygotsky, a leading psychologist in the area of education. This is a form of education undertaken in the government schools in the UK today, however, it is not always accomplished and individual students fail to thrive. This is when a highly experienced tutor with special needs academic qualifications is required. At UCL as a trainee teacher, we were trained to make sure the students all stayed within the zone of proximal development to ensure that they learnt at their highest capacity. We as teachers are the more knowledgeable other and able to maintain the best form of teaching to enable the best academic growth of our individual students; To teach individually to their individual needs. Due to academic and other demands on hard-working teachers, this is not always done in schools and of course leads to the student requiring a more specialised approach which I can deliver. I assess the student and decide the best strategy to enable them to be successful in their academic career. I have seen many students go on to become doctors, lawyers and successful businessmen over the past 25 years which has been extremely rewarding. I look forward to helping you or your child through the daunting process of the academic system in the UK.

Vivienne is an excellent tutor. My son was struggling with his math and wanted to become a doctor. We firstly employed Vivienne to help him with maths. Once they had completed this subject and he felt much more confident they went on the complete work on English and the sciences that he needed at GCSE to go on to take his A levels. He then completed the tuition needed for his A level gaining all A* and this helped with his medical school application. Vivienne then helped him with his statement for medical school and interview prep. I very much recommend Vivienne to any other parents of a child who just needs a little more intervention due to their dyslexia to get them through the exams. Her techniques of finding the areas needed to gain better marks and then working on those areas works and then with the exam preparation proved an excellent investment in our sons future career.
