About Liyat
Hi! My name is Liyat :) I’m a second year Biochemistry and Genetics student at UCT. I love the fact that the world works because of the intricacies of chemistry and that’s why I decided to pursue it as a career. I got 7 distinctions in Matric with an 87% average (IEB). I’m class representative for my genetics and biochemistry courses which helps me with my leadership and communication skills. I was a prefect in high school and am therefore good with organization and discipline and my friends say I’m pretty cool (they also call me a huge nerd). I want to help you achieve your goals and make learning biology and chemistry fun and easy.

I am able to provide valuable understanding and explanations that link the concepts of biology and chemistry to everyday examples. I teach structure alongside function so that understanding comes naturally. I am very detailed oriented and therefore explain concepts in depth (to the level that the student needs). I have a lot of experience working with people and I am flexible to each student’s needs. I align my approach with each student’s goals to ensure an enlightening and joyful experience. I’m an enthusiastic and approachable person which will make the student’s lesson fun and memorable :)!
