About Gianna
I am a senior biomechanical engineering student at Hofstra University, working as a full-time tissue engineer in a research lab. This position has resulted in published scientific articles of my own, as well as presentations at national conferences.
I am also a technical assistant in Hofstra's MakerSpace, where I am certified in 3D printing, manufacturing, and training students on machinery.
In my spare time, I am a peer-teacher on my campus, as well as a tutor, helping with introductory classes for young engineering students to find their way. I have also been a volunteer tutor for middle school and high school mathematics and science for a year now!
I am the vice-president of Biomedical Engineering Society, Secretary of Hofstra Robotics, and the founder and president of the Helping Hands Project (a club to 3D print prosthetics for donation to patients).
Additionally, I have worked as a full-time systems engineer at a biomedical device company for 9 months, helping to invent a device to preserve organs between transplants.
I am graduating in December of 2026 with a BS in Bioengineering, with a concentration in mechanics, and a minor in mathematics. I am applying to PhD programs in the coming fall, and looking forward to being a full-time researcher!

I love to share real examples with my students, encouraging them to talk through each step of the problem to find the amazing patterns in science and mathematics. I love to relate math and physics problems to real life so that the students may see the beauty of science in their daily lives, and make connections to learning rather than just memorizing a book.
I mainly work with high school students preparing for their exams, but I am open to all ages!
