About Kelsey
I am a singing tutor with over 3 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. My passion is helping performers shape their voices into true reflections of their artistry. I work with singers who thrive in creative spaces like bands, open mic nights, and songwriting sessions. My coaching style is dynamic and collaborative, designed to bring out both technical skill and authentic expression. I specialize in genres such as Indie Rock, Alt-Pop, and Acoustic Soul, where individuality and emotion shine. Lessons often include lyric writing support, guiding singers to craft words that feel personal and powerful. I also focus on vocal texture, helping artists explore the subtle tones and colors that make their voice distinct. Stage movement and mic technique are central to my approach, since performance is as much about presence as it is about sound. I encourage students to find freedom on stage, moving with intention and confidence. Vocal training is always blended with emotional storytelling, ensuring that songs resonate deeply with both the singer and the audience. My teaching approach to singing is centered on self-discovery, mindfulness, and the gentle art of connecting with the inner voice. I believe every voice holds a unique story, and my role is to help uncover it with care. Lessons are not only about sound, but also about presence, awareness, and intention.
I use practices such as vocal journaling, where learners reflect on their voice and emotions through writing. Imagery becomes a powerful tool, helping singers create colors, shapes, and sensations in their sound. Meditation and subtle breath work guide the body toward stillness and calm, preparing both mind and voice to sing with ease.
Together, we explore vocal placement awareness, learning how resonance feels when the voice is free and balanced. I emphasize phrasing intention, teaching how words carry deeper meaning when shaped with clarity and emotion. Before singing, I encourage moments of mental clarity, so each note begins from a place of focus and calm.
This approach supports learners who seek emotional grounding, creative independence, physical ease, or a renewed sense of confidence. Some discover a stronger body-mind connection, while others find freedom in expression they never thought possible. Each lesson is shaped around what the singer needs most, allowing growth to feel natural and deeply personal.
