About Sofia
Hello everybody. :) I graduated from high school this summer and will start unversity next year. My mother tongue is English, since I grew up in America and was in school there until the first year of high school. During my time in America I offered tutoring for children with learning difficulties, as well as for my classmates and my younger brother. During my time in America, I also worked with children outside of tutoring as a babysitter. Since I arrived in Switzerland, I have been teaching English to high school students. In addition, I have always been one of the best in my class (especially in the natural sciences and the social sciences, where I have had nothing but straight A's) and I am very committed to learning. I also took a lot of AP classes during my time in the States and would love to offer tutoring for those as well. I have always had a lot of fun at school and would like to pass this joy on to your child or to you. Since my mother is a primary teacher and I have often helped her with her preparations, I already have some experience with the compilation of learning materials and teaching, especially younger children. I like to teach and would like to make school easier for you or your child.

I basically organize my lessons freely and give the students the opportunity to work on what they have difficulties with. Lessons are kept relaxed and the student can ask as many questions as he or she wants. Only when it comes to the basics will I give lessons that are structured more like typical schooling. Otherwise, the lessons are designed interactively with lots of exercises, work, discussions and questions of understanding. After an agreement on the subject area, I will put together didactic materials from various learning materials (which I already have from previous tutoring lessons), which will engage the student in the subject. The materials are adapted to the student in terms of age and previous knowledge. If you like, I also offer exam preparation.
