About Cristina
I am a translator and interpreter. I have a degree in Translation and Interpreting. I have been a private tutor for 2 years now. I've taught Spanish, English, Latin and French to teenagers and adults (ages 13 to 24) but I also have experience with children (ages 7-10). I have a university course of Spanish for foreign speakers and I am studying a masters degree to become an English teacher for Spanish speakers.

Depending on the language I have different methodologies. For English, I like for my students to speak and listen before they start writing, particularly if they are children. With adults, I also follow this technique, although I complement it with grammar explanations along the way.
I use "Look, listen and learn" as the main book to teach English for beginners and then I start using different books to reach a certain level (A2, B1, B2...)
With Spanish I use books depending on the student's needs (A2, B1, B2,C1...). During the first week I will explain the basics in English and then I will use Spanish for my explanations and to express myself. Should the student not understand me, I will explain in English. But I do like my students to get used to listening and speaking Spanish in class.
With Latin, I use a translation-grammar approach, which means that the student will only know how to read and translate the language. As it is a dead language, there is no need to speak it, just to understand the grammar and sentence structures so as to translate and understand correctly.
