About Megan

I started playing the cello 10 years ago when I was in high school. Before then, I played the violin from ages 7-13. Playing the cello gave me a voice and a passion during some challenging times in my life. My teachers gave me the tools I needed to reach my goals and foster my love of music. My hope is to do the same for my students, no matter what their goals and dreams are. I graduated from the University of North Florida in 2024 with Bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Cello Performance. I'm currently pursuing a Master's degree in Cello Performance at UNF and will graduate in 2026. I am Suzuki certified in Cello Units 1-8. I have been teaching private lessons since I was a senior in high school. I feel like my perspective as a teacher has changed a lot over the years. I regularly play in my college orchestra and for weddings and other events. I have played cello for televised productions at Walt Disney World and have played with touring orchestras. I am also a board member of a nonprofit organization called Beaches Fine Arts Series that brings free concerts and educational outreach to the Jacksonville area. This organization is important to me because I feel that music and music education should be available to as many people as possible.

About the lesson

I believe that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to be unique to the student. As a current Masters student myself, I understand the value of one-on-one personalized attention and how that can shape your education. My students have a wide variety of goals. Some of them want to pursue music as a career and some of them just want to learn a couple of songs for fun. I take this into account while lesson planning so my students get what they want out of our time together.
