About Hamid

I am Hamid Nedri and I am nearing the end of my Doctoral studies in Education at the University of Gloucestershire. I believe that the more we can communicate with and understand each other in this inter-dependent world we all share, the better we will be able to live in harmony with each other and enjoy lives which are mutually fulfilling for all.

I was born into a farming family in Algeria. English is my fourth language; my mother tongue is Berber and then, almost before I could walk, I was learning classical Arabic followed by French. All of my education up until the age of 18 was in Arabic and French. My under-graduate studies were carried out entirely in English. Many of you will know, that in places like Algeria, we are effectively a tri-lingual society before we add English into our portfolio!

You might like to know that I continue to have regular private one-on-one English conversational lessons. We are all learners and we must never ever stop learning!

My particular interest per my PhD research, is into social and psychological aspects of human flourishing as we transition between various stages of our educational journeys. So, have no doubt I am both passionate and knowledgeable about equipping, enabling and encouraging anyone, who would like, either to acquire and/or to deepen their understanding of (‘Classical’) Arabic – as opposed to the language of the ubiquitous Arab ‘Street’.

I am also very happy to support your desire to improve your French if that is what you wish to do.

About the lesson

I have devised some modular short courses which, depending on your learning objectives, might readily meet your personal goals. At our introductory lesson, you and I can discuss and agree on how I can best help you meet your needs and ultimately understand and communicate with the Arab world through its language and its people.
