About Mhairi

I have coached and directed for over 30 years within and out with professional theatre. I was Artistic Director of a successful Theatre in Education Company and worked with thousands of young people of all ages many of whom who have since gone on to work as professional actors, directors, practitioners
and production assistants. Many are also working in the film and television industry
My ethos is simple. Find the person within to find the actor without. In other words if you are prepared to work on you and your blocks, the performer you want to become will more naturally emerge.
Acting is more than lines to be learned. As Stella Adler says - the play is in you not the words.
Over my 30 year career working in Theatre and the broader Arts I have found this to be true. The more you let yourself out to play in acting, the more your performance will take wings.

About the lesson

I offer a unique and creative approach to acting tuition for all ages developed over 3O years as a Theatre Director and educational theatre practitioner .
I use innovative techniques to explore imaginative approaches to characterisation and to enhance both vocal and physical acting performance with a broader exploration of the cultural context surrounding any text to support a more truthful and creatively intelligent delivery.
Sessions are designed to be fun but ultimately to empower the performer and to foster a more grounded self belief within Acting.
Programmes for actors or would be actors vary on experience level. Younger performer programmes are tailored to the foundational needs of the client and are more speech and drama focused.

Normally I suggest a one hour 15 lesson - this allows for warm up and catch up. The cost of extra 15 mins is reflected in the hourly rate
