About Matthew Howard
I am a third year Maths student at the University of Bath, beginning to specialise in the areas of Applied Mathematics and analysis. My passion for teaching comes from being able to see genuine progress out of students and hopefully see them develop a level of enjoyment for the subject, as well as helping them prepare effectively and efficiently for their exams

I aim to form a personal relationship with my students. As someone who has recently completed my A-Levels, I know exactly what they are going through and how I overcame any difficulties myself. Being a young person, I also find it makes it much easier for students to relate to me, and I take a very calm and relaxed approach to teaching. The aim is to not make learning Maths a chore, but more of a sit down with a friend! I allow students to choose the direction of our lessons, as they know their own weaknesses better than anyone else could. Whatever they want to work on, we will. I also understand that a lot of people see maths and just ask, what is the point? I had this myself, so a large part of the lessons will always be about linking it back to a real life application where appropriate to show that what we are working on really does have a huge purpose
