About Solomon
Hi! I’m a 2nd-year medical student studying in the UK, and I’m passionate about teaching because I remember exactly what it felt like to be in your shoes—navigating tricky subjects, preparing for exams, and trying to stand out in med school applications. I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others understand complex ideas in a simple, relatable way. Whether it’s mastering GCSE Biology, tackling A-level Maths, or preparing for interviews, I’ve been through it all recently—and I know what works. Teaching also helps me grow: explaining topics reinforces my own understanding and keeps me sharp. Most importantly, I love seeing that “aha!” moment when something finally clicks for a student. -Initial Assessment (First Lesson or Intro Session) Understand the student’s current level, goals, and any upcoming exams. -Identify strengths and key problem areas. Set realistic short- and long-term targets (e.g. "Boost predicted grade from B to A"). Example: In our first session, I’ll ask a few questions or give a mini quiz to find out where you’re at. This helps me tailor the lessons to exactly what you need. 2. Customised Lesson Planning Each lesson is structured around the student’s syllabus (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, etc.). Mix of theory, active recall, and exam technique. Use real-life examples from medicine to make concepts engaging and memorable. Example: I link biology topics like the cardiovascular system to what I’m learning in medical school—this helps make complex ideas easier to understand. 3. Interactive Learning Active questioning to encourage critical thinking. Diagrams, past paper walkthroughs, and memory hacks (like mnemonics). Encourage the student to explain concepts back to you. Teaching back-is a powerful technique I use—if you can teach it, you truly understand it. 4. Exam Practice & Technique Regular use of past paper questions to build confidence. Focus on command words (describe, explain, evaluate). Teach mark scheme language and how to maximise marks. 5. Progress Tracking Short quizzes at the start/end of lessons. Regular check-ins on goals (improving test scores, confidence). Adapt the pace depending on how the student is progressing.
