About Alli

With over ten years of tutoring experience, I specialise in helping students excel in Economics at GCSE, A-Level, and IB. My lessons are structured, personalised, and exam-focused, designed to help every student bridge gaps in understanding, master key skills, and achieve their full potential. I am part of Econominds, a leading tutoring and resource platform that supports students and schools nationwide with expertly crafted revision materials and model answers. Through my work with Econominds, I’ve developed a deep understanding of exam board expectations and effective strategies for achieving top grades — knowledge I bring into every session. My approach combines clarity, rigour, and empathy. Having personal experience of dyslexia, I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit their individual needs. I use diagnostic questions, real exam practice, and SPEQ-based diagram work to ensure students build both confidence and accuracy. Outside tutoring, I’ve worked in the UK Civil Service, analysing policies to reduce benefit fraud — an area worth over £600 billion in savings — and in financial services as a paraplanner at a firm managing £300 million in assets. These roles have strengthened my analytical and communication skills, and allow me to bring real-world Economics and Finance into the classroom. I am also the founder of Foundations for Finance, a social platform dedicated to improving financial literacy and making Economics accessible to all. My lessons inspire students to think critically, apply theory to real issues, and develop the confidence to excel — not just in exams, but in how they understand the world around them.

Before Class Preparation is key — every student is expected to come ready to learn. Review the lesson schedule and check which topics we’ll cover. Complete the diagnostic questions set for that topic (a mix of my own questions and real exam questions). If you struggle to answer them, work through the pre-lesson content on the learning platform to build your understanding. Revisit key definitions, formulae, and diagrams, and practise re-drawing at least one using the SPEQ method (Shift, Price, Equilibrium, Quantity). During Class Lessons are interactive, not lectures — expect to think, discuss, and apply your knowledge. Engage fully in discussion and ask about anything you found difficult in the pre-lesson work. Apply theory to real-world data and policies, connecting classroom concepts to economic reality. Work through exam-style questions to develop analytical precision and exam confidence. Draw and explain diagrams using SPEQ, and be prepared to teach back key ideas to reinforce your understanding. After Class Learning doesn’t stop at the end of the lesson — consolidation is where real progress happens. Re-do the diagnostic questions to measure your progress. Review the recorded lesson if available and note any areas that still feel unclear. Use “blurt” revision (writing everything you remember on a topic, then filling gaps) to actively review content.
