About Alfie

I have tutored for 3 Years and now specialise in Maths. I have worked with individuals and groups from KS2 to KS4. I am passionate about quality education and tailor tuition to my student's individual needs. The small group classes allow students to share ideas and learn from each other and ask those all important questions whilst individual classes allow students to focus on specific skills they are struggling on. I am friendly and patient and adapt my teaching methods to meet the needs of the individual - each student is unique and individual and I cater for all needs whether you need help to secure skills, boost your confidence or you are aiming for those top grades. Every student should have the right to quality education and I hope that with the promotion of growth mindset alongside Maths skills that students can see their own potential.

About the lesson

In a friendly, fun yet engaging way, I tutor Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 to help improve those all important foundation skills that allow all young people to progress in Maths. This is vital and something that I am passionate about and is why I use a variety of quality resources to target the key areas that individuals need to improve. I have extensive experience of the latest GCSE Maths Specification and so tutor GCSE age students in both Higher and Foundation to help them achieve the best possible grade. I also tutor Year 7, 8 and 9 students to prepare them for the step towards GCSE. All lessons are tailored to the individual. Each class begins with a low stakes quiz to recap previous lessons and embed those all important skills. This gives the opportunity to address areas that individuals are finding particularly tricky. The main content of the lesson involves reviewing topics and giving time to practice and ask questions which are vital for understanding. Supporting resources and help sheets are also given to students to support their learning in school and out of their tuition lesson.
