About Rachel

I’m Rachel, a Medical Student from Scotland who has just finished their 2nd year at St Andrews Medical school.
Having achieved all 4 offers of my medical applications, alongside a Band 1 Situational judgement & 2nd decile UCAT score, I’m willing to put in the effort to do well. In both my first and second year studies, I achieved the Dean’s list – an award for academic excellence.
I'm known for being a kind, friendly, patient person who loves helping people out - whether it's my siblings in their school studies or my friends when we're figuring out confusing concepts in medical school together.
For the past two years, I've had experience helping several acquaintances and family friends in the beginning of their medical journey. I enjoyed being the friendly face they could (and still do in medical school!) turn to for questions or support.

About the lesson

I’m a passionate medical student would love to help you out in the Medical School Application process! For the past two years, I've had experience helping several acquaintances and family friends in the beginning of their medical journey. I enjoyed being the friendly face they could (and still do in medical school!) turn to for questions or support.

Our Sessions – aimed primarily at S5 (or keen S4!) students who are preparing for UCAT or in their medical application process:
My focus in tutoring is strategy, support, and understanding. These go hand in hand because to me, understanding/getting to grips with basics are the best approach for thriving. I'm also patient, supportive, and want you to feel as comfortable as possible - I know how daunting the process for applying to medical school can be!

I’m here to answer any questions you have to clear up confusions – we will always make time for questions. I will provide lessons tailored to your goals, strengths and areas you need to work on.

For UCAT preparation, you’re expected to put in the hard work and practice hours yourself outside of this. However, our sessions would form structural checkpoints to monitor your progress, involving looking into areas you particularly struggled with, walking through confusing questions, providing practical tips from my experience and support for improvement.

In our first session, I’ll meet you at whatever stage you’re at (whether you have no clue what you're doing, or have already started practising for UCAT) and we’ll come up with a plan for action. For UCAT, We’ll go through some UCAT questions together, talk about technique, and I’ll answer any questions or concerns you may have
