Approach to Tutoring (Mathematics)
My approach to tutoring mathematics is student-centred, supportive, and practical. I focus on building a strong conceptual foundation first, then reinforcing learning through guided practice and real examples. I believe students understand maths best when they see why a method works, not just how to do it. I encourage questions at any time and adapt my explanations to suit each student’s learning style.
Techniques & Teaching Methodology
* Break complex problems into simple, step-by-step processes
* Use real-life examples to make abstract concepts easier to understand
* Practice-focused learning with worksheets and past questions
* Active recall and quick quizzes to reinforce memory
* Exam techniques, time management, and problem-solving strategies
* Patient repetition of topics until the student feels confident
Typical Lesson Length
A standard lesson is 60 minutes.
If needed, I also offer:
* 90-minute sessions for exam preparation or intensive revision
* Short 30-minute doubt-clearing sessions
**Qualifications / Experience**
I am currently an **Undergraduate Computer Science student at London South Bank University (LSBU)**. My academic background involves regular use of mathematics, including algebra, logic, discrete mathematics, and problem-solving. As a CS student, I apply mathematical thinking in programming and computational problem solving, which helps me teach maths from both theoretical and practical perspectives. I also have experience helping classmates and peers understand mathematical topics informally.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are suitable for:
* Primary school students
* GCSE-level students
* KS2–KS4 learners
* Beginners who want to strengthen basic maths skills
I tailor lessons based on the student’s level, pace, and goals—whether that is improving grades, building confidence, or preparing for exams.
My aim as a tutor is to make mathematics less intimidating and more engaging, helping students develop confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
