My initial approach to tutoring is to get to know my students. Having a good understanding of my students enables me to offer bespoke tutoring services. I seek to find out what their interests and learning styles are so that I can impart knowledge of the subject matter in a way that is most effective and engaging for them. I am usually interested in knowing what my students' tutoring goals are and elicit their feedback from time to time in order to find out how effective they believe our sessions are in enabling them to reach those goals. This information serves as a useful guide to the pace and range of my tutoring sessions. I believe that, given the right tools/resources, every student can learn and I do my best to ensure that my students attain their learning goals.

Carol Okon was a great employee
I am writing to confirm that Carol has been volunteering with Action Tutoring since the beginning of November 2015. Action Tutoring provides volunteer tutors to work with pupils preparing for GCSE exams in schools across the country and Carol volunteers as a maths tutor for an hour a week at Lambeth Academy, in London.
Carol supports 2 pupils and works closely with them, devising lesson plans and activities, working to build both their subject knowledge as well as their confidence and study skills.
Carol’s help has been very much appreciated by the school and has provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to benefit from some intensive one to one support in preparation for their exams.
Carol is a committed, reliable and enthusiastic volunteer, relating very well to pupils, teachers and fellow tutors and is a valuable volunteer both for the school and for our organisation.View more recommendations
