About Kate

With clinical nursing experience in a variety of care settings and over 17 years of academic teaching at University Medical Schools, I have the skill set and expertise to help direct and inspire you to overcome your academic struggles and, to help you develop and progress your academic work and career in both nursing and other health related professions.

I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree, and a PGCert in Higher Education. I also have a Masters in Health Research (MRes) and have published and presented my work at conferences. I am currently completing a proposal for my PhD. As a lecturer, I have been involved in pre-registration nursing and medical programmes, developing and delivering modules, setting and marking student assessments, clinical skills teaching and assessment, curriculum development and admissions (including MMIs).

I am passionate about teaching and dedicated to helping equip students with the tools to become confident, independent, life-long learners. Having been an undergraduate and postgraduate myself, I can relate to the obstacles you may be facing and how overwhelming academic studies can be, especially if your life is complicated further with having to juggle work and family life. I know how much I appreciated support in my studies, not only in the form of approachable, professional expertise, but also in the form of warm, welcoming reassurance and encouragement when I felt disillusioned and in need of some self-belief. And this is what I can do for you.

I offer a variety of services, including, academic skills support, mentoring/tutoring, assignment proofreading and comprehensive feedback, and guidance with referencing, both in the main body of the assignment and in the reference list.

I am registered with the NMC and RCN, an affiliated member of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy

About the lesson

The teaching method used will be individualised and based on spending time understanding what your specific academic challenges and requirements are, with the aim of giving you the techniques and tools required to not only achieve your immediate academic goals, but to empower you to become, in the long term, a confident and motivated independent thinker and learner.
