About Chapmann

Hi, I'm Chapmann, and I have been studying piano since the age of five. I completed my Bachelor’s in Musical Arts degree in the University of Victoria, studying under Professor Eva Kinderman for my undergraduate studies and now I'm currently pursuing my Master's in Piano performance under Professor Frédéric Lacroix for my master’s degree. I have also participated in numerous masterclasses to further develop my musicianship and teaching approach. To strengthen my pedagogical training, I continuously taught at piano studios with a focus on children and teenagers, allowing me to continuously refine my teaching methods for young learners. I have been teaching piano since 2016, and since then, I have worked as a private piano instructor all over Canada, including Vancouver, Victoria, and Ottawa, teaching students of all ages and levels. I am also currently serving as a Teaching Assistant at University of Ottawa, gaining experience in a more academic teaching environment. My goal is to provide structured, thoughtful, and supportive instruction tailored to each student.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Chapmann, and my lessons focus on the foundations of music. For technique, I make sure my students all have relaxed posture while developing strong fingers. This is important for me because it prevents injuries and allows my students to express their music more freely. I also like simplifying the music and breaking it down so it is easy to understand. The lessons can also be fun with a variety of exercises, games, and engaged learning. I look forward to hearing from you!
