About Giulia
I am a university professor in biology. I teach a variety of courses including: Molecular Biology, Genetics, Immunology, Human Physiology and Human Anatomy (some of these courses include/are laboratory courses). Depending on the term, I can teach up to 400 students at a time across all classes, and my smallest class size is 20 students.
I have been teaching for a living for the last eight years (since finishing my PhD). My PhD is in molecular biology/genetics from a UC, and I have a master's degree in biology from Stanford University.
I regularly participate in teaching development programs specific for university level STEM courses, as a "lifelong student" trying to learn more about how people learn, how to engage my students in small and large classrooms, and how to become a better teacher, because I LOVE TO TEACH! I was nominated for an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2017.
I am also a mother, and I love cooking and the outdoors!

My teaching method involves building a framework around my student's prior knowledge and engaging them in developing a deeper level of understanding through active learning techniques that are proven to support enduring understanding. To that end, I want to develop skills around learning as much as I want to help them understand complex biological topics to support their development toward mastery of a subject with strong scientific reasoning skills. My teaching style involves dialogue with my students, not just lecturing, as well as application of tools and strategies that can help students organize and refine complex ideas in the framework of the bigger picture.
I want to help you build your skills, your confidence as a student and your mastery of biology! This IS what I do for a living (I love it and I'm good at it)!

Cancellation within 24 hours required for no charge. Cancellation within 12-24 is billed a $20 cancellation fee, cancellation within 0-12 hours is billed a $30 cancellation fee.
