About Sitwat
At the moment, I teach up to 10 children on a one-to- one weekly basis and they are of different ages. Some are preparing for the 11+ tests for year 6 and for the SATs in May/June 2020. Others are GCSE maths, English and science students.
I feel its really important to work with students in a friendly setting where they don't feel hesitant to discuss topics they are struggling with or sharing results from assessments they have had at school. I always adopt my methodology to the speed at which student finds it comfortable to work at. For example, if a student finds they are not fully understanding certain topics, I make sure to spend longer on that subject, even up to an hour and a half. Its crucial that each students can confidently say that they have learnt something new from each one of my lessons because that is a good sign of progress for me and it helps keep me aware of whether I need to modify my lesson structure or teaching style to suit the student's specific needs. I am very enthusiastic and eager to have more GCSE students coming to me for help because I love teaching and seeing my students progress in their learning over time!

I am a History university student at King's College London, currently in the final year of my degree and I give lessons to KS2 students for maths and English, as well as GCSE maths, English and science students.
My lessons last for an hour, in which I dedicate one half of the hour to one subject and the other half to the second subject. For instance, if I were to teach maths and English to a GCSE student, the first half of the lesson would go as follows:
-the first 5-10 minutes of the lesson would include checking the student's homework and going over any corrections to be made
-from this recap of the previous session, it becomes clear to me which topics the student requires more help with
- I then go through a set of questions with the student regarding the topic they are most struggling with and my aim is to cover two topics thoroughly in the course of that half hour, for example 'expanding brackets' and 'rearranging formulae'
- In the last 10-15 minutes of the session, the student attempts some questions on their own and I explain to them any final queries they have.
-I then set up to 20 questions on the covered topics for homework
