About Yasmin

Hello! My name is Yasmin, and I am currently undertaking a BA in Architecture- a subject which has captivated my interest and been my passion for many years. My other passion, however, is tutoring. I confidently reinforce the learning that takes place in the classroom while also creating an enjoyable learning environment where you can feel confident making mistakes, and refining skills. I have achieved a level 8 for geography GCSE and an A for geography A Level. I have also achieved an A in History of Art, another heavily based essay writing subject. Having also been a tutor for over 3 years, I know how to manage a wide range of abilities confidently, tailoring each lesson to the students individual needs.

About the lesson

With 3 years of tutoring experience from kS2 to GCSE, I have developed a well-rounded teaching style that both the student and I enjoy. Having a love for geography from an early age and continuing this into A Level has allowed me to curate and test the best methods and practices to use in exams and assessments, and my experience the new syllabus allows a confident and competent delivery of education. I opt for a theory and guided practise structure to my lessons, where students are encouraged to take notes on the content in the first half of the lesson. These notes then support the out of class work, which is followed up for any gaps in knowledge. I also include a guided practise portion of the lesson in the second half, which allows questions to be attempted. Follow up questions and additional support can also be implemented at this stage, strengthening the understanding of the topic. I enjoy spending the time and effort to understand each students’ individual strengths and weaknesses and allowing their confidence to grow with continued encouragement and feedback. I also aim to encourage a wider appreciation of the subject outside of the syllabus, directing students to articles, books or videos that can help support their own interest in the topic.
