About Taayeeba
I am currently a University of Surrey student, studying Biomedical Sciences BSc. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Geography at A-Level. I’ve always known that I want to do something to change the world - however over optimistic that sounds - but I didn’t know what career path I wanted to get into. At school, I loved English…and History…and Biology…and Geography…I’ve wanted to become an author, a journalist, an archaeologist, a volcanologist, a doctor! But now I’ve settled on becoming a scientist. I love the brain. I love how little we know about it. I love how WE ARE the brain, yet we barely understand it. I love how some people know so little that they seek to find out more. I also love disease. I think viruses and parasites and bacteria are some of the most phenomenal things to exist. Did you know we have more bacteria in our human bodies than actual cells?

As a lover of both STEM and Humanities, I want students to understand the importance of both. Our brains have two hemispheres - one for logic and critical thinking, and the other for imagination and artistic expression. There is art in maths, and maths in art. Because of the rigid curriculum and society’s expectations in choosing one or the other, children are losing their love for maths and their ability to write essays.
