About Zakir
As an avid problem-solver and maths fan, I think of teaching as solving a puzzle. When a student finds understanding something difficult, I think of different ways to explain the concept. I then put myself in the students' situation and test each new method of explanation that occurs to me. If I feel that the explanation would not be beneficial to the student or would cause even more confusion, I think of new approaches.
This is the problem-solving aspect of teaching that I really enjoy. However, the best part of teaching is when the student starts to master something that they originally thought to be challenging. It gives me a great sense of accomplishment and is truly why I love teaching.

As a student, I understand what students struggle with and the procedure to help them understand the material. I believe in explaining topics as simply as possible without missing out on key information.
Lessons are normally one hour but it is up to the student what duration they are comfortable with.
I started my teaching journey at a young age - about 8 years ago - when I was teaching taekwondo at my local taekwondo academy. Next, I taught programs at my community centre ranging from academics to sports. At this time, I also started privately tutoring students.
I am glad to have had academic success in high school achieving the honour roll each year. I also won a board-wide maths award for my performance in my maths classes. Ultimately, this allowed me to gain a university scholarship. During one of my summer breaks, I taught elementary and secondary level mathematics at an institution.
