About Umaiza
I am a Medical Science student at Western University and graduated high school with a 94% average, receiving the Silver Medal Award for all four years for maintaining an average above 90% across all eight courses. I achieved 90%+ in Kinesiology, Biology, Chemistry throughout all four years of high school. I have also been an English tutor for over 5 years, with more than 2,000 hours of tutoring experience.
I have worked with students of a wide range of ages and abilities, including ESL students. My students have consistently seen noticeable improvements in their marks, with many reaching the 90% range. I tailor each lesson to the individual student, preparing them ahead of their grade level in reading and writing while still moving at a pace that ensures they genuinely understand and feel confident with the material.
My goal is not simply to help students improve their grades, but to build strong foundational skills that allow them to become more confident, independent learners.

My approach to tutoring is personalized, supportive, and focused on building both skills and confidence. I adapt my teaching methods to each student’s learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement, using explanations, examples, practice exercises, and guided feedback to help students understand concepts rather than simply memorize them.
A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous material and homework, followed by an introduction to the day’s topic. We then work through examples together before the student completes practice questions independently. I finish each lesson by reviewing key takeaways and assigning homework for the next lesson.
What sets me apart is my 5 years of tutoring experience and my experience working with ESL students. I am patient and adaptable, and I make sure lessons are tailored to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
