About Blessie
I have always had a strength and passion for maths. Developing from a child who simply enjoyed solving puzzles and problems to a student excelling in GCSE/A Level further/maths, I have taken an increasingly deep interest in the subject, aspiring to undertake a Bachelor’s Degree in Pure Mathematics at university this year. Excelling in three GCSE Qualifications in maths (Edexcel Maths [A*], OCR FSMQ Additional Maths [A], AQA L2 Further Maths [A^]) and confident with A Level content (OCR MEI Modules Taken: C1-4, FP1, FP2 D1, S1, S2, M1, M2, M3), I took joy in running drop-in maths sessions at school and tutoring fellow students in my spare time, being particularly gifted in finding alternative explanations to suit a range of methods of thinking. I have also been consistent in my extra-curricular involvement in maths, ranging from masterclasses at the Royal Institution, to regular seminars on Number Theory by a visiting academic, to achieving Gold/Kangaroo Certificates in the UKMT Maths Challenges.

As a prospective maths student with experience in informally tutoring fellow students in my academic life (GCSE and A Level), running maths drop-in after school sessions and covering a few school lessons, much of my teaching strategy is tailored to the student(s) I teach, where I deduce a teaching style based on their means of understanding. However, for those I do not know so well, or for bigger groups, I begin using a loose structure of covering content then providing practice questions, then more challenging or past paper questions. Overall, I value communication and adaptability; having been a Debate Mate mentor, I constantly read the room and learn what does and does not work with different groups of people, so that I can provide a service tailored to my student(s).
