About Abshir

I am currently a Policy Adviser for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero. Beyond my tutoring experience, I have experience working for charitable organisations who support community social and economic welfare. Spanning from my campaigning for Oxfam, to advising the Government of Somalia, I enjoy communicating complex theories and implementing them in practice. DBS Certified (2024)

About the lesson

As a graduate specialising in International Relations and Development Economics (MSc, SOAS), I have over 8 years’ experience tutoring Economics, Politics and English Literature. Whilst studying for my master's, I hand-crafted and presented over 60 hours of A-Level Economics lessons per week (OCR, AQA & Edexcel). I have enhanced skills in PowerPoint, Word and other interactive software to help inspire and improve my students' capabilities and creativity through storytelling. I coordinated a cultural enrichment trip for my pupils to Shanghai (China) to help expand their academic horizon. Since 2015, all my economics students have secured a B grade or above and went on to their desired universities. I am a passionate A-level Politics tutor (AQA syllabus), specialising in UK and USA political systems, as well as 'core' and 'non-core' political ideologies. All my politics students since 2019 have secured a B grade and above. I have ample experience teaching English GCSE, where I tutored for 18 hours a week in a classroom format. Deadly! Fantastic tutor - 5 stars and more
My sister who picked economics in year 12 for one of her subjects required urgent tutoring. She struggled with the subject and was predicted an E. Due to Abshir's excellent tutoring she aced her end-of-year exams and boosted her predicted grade to a B. This would have not been possible without Abshir's fantastic tutoring style. He was able to adjust to my sister's learning style and provided her with lots of material. Abshir's emphatic, kind and supportive nature helped my sister to grasp economics and find a liking for it! All his lessons were structed and tailored to her needs, and she was able to take so much away from it. He is extremely knowledgeable and was able to break complex topics down in a manner a 16-year-old could understand it.
5 stars and more! Thank you so much to Abshir for being the greatest tutor we could have asked for! You saved my sister from re-doing the year and we cannot thank you enough!
