About Janis

Guitar clicked for me during a specific moment years ago, and I have spent my career engineering that exact epiphany for others. My approach is honest because I prefer steady weekly contact rather than occasional, bloated sessions. I hold a BM Music Industry degree from Belmont University.

I work with adults retraining their skills and teenagers under pressure to keep my week varied. My focus is on fingerpicking, barre chords, improvisation, soloing, and reading sheet music. I also handle tuning, maintenance, tab reading, lead guitar, chord transitions, acoustic technique, and scales. I teach the technical side so it eventually feels like something that just happens naturally.

Obvious clarity is the goal, where the fretboard feels like an extension of your own hand rather than a puzzle to solve. You will hear the clean resonance of a well tuned acoustic ring out clearly in the room as we work through your specific song requests turned into simplified arrangements.

We skip the boring exercises entirely to stay anchored in real music, bands, and songs that actually matter to you. Instead of rote drills, we navigate scales and modes through the lens of the music you enjoy listening to during your downtime.

I provide a hands-on environment where we refine your transitions and soloing techniques in real time. We ensure the mechanics of your playing become so internal that you stop thinking about the placement of your fingers. You will walk away from our time together ready to play the music you enjoy.
