About Jake
Hi, I’m Jake — a passionate and experienced Japanese language tutor with a strong connection to both Japanese and Australian cultures. As a bilingual speaker who grew up speaking both English and Japanese, I understand the challenges that come with learning a second language and how to overcome them. I’ve spent time living and studying in Japan, giving me not only advanced language proficiency but also deep cultural insight that I bring into my lessons. I’m approachable, patient, and focused on helping each student achieve their goals—whether that’s improving school results, preparing for an exchange, or mastering everyday conversation. My lessons are designed to be supportive, structured, and adapted to each student’s level and pace. I always aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel confident asking questions and making progress.

I offer Japanese language tutoring tailored to a wide range of learners, from primary and high school students to university-level and adult learners. My approach focuses on strengthening weak areas and building confidence through targeted support, rather than overwhelming students with extra work.
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and are structured to be engaging, practical, and relevant to what the student is already learning, especially for those looking to improve school performance or prepare for exams.
I teach all aspects of the Japanese language, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, reading, writing, and listening. Depending on the student’s needs, I can focus on foundational skills or more advanced content, such as JLPT preparation or academic Japanese.
With a background as a bilingual speaker and experience living and studying in Japan, I bring both practical language skills and cultural insight to my lessons. I’ve supported students from beginner to advanced levels and understand how to adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and goals.
