It is a pleasure to write a reference for Tom, one of my final year tutees on the Aeronautical Engineering integrated Masters programme at Imperial College. Tom combines being academically excellent with a level-headedness which I believe makes him an excellent engineer and a very good tutor. He is one of my best performing tutees in a wide range of subjects, including mathematics. He is also well liked by his peers and actively engages is group discussions and team work, he takes his work seriously and strives for excellent results but does not take himself too seriously. I believe Tom to be a very reliable individual, I have enjoyed having him in my tutor group for almost 4 years and I am very happy to recommend him to you.

Tom is a hard-working and outstandingly academically able young man who achieved A*A*A*A at A level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, alongside an A in AS Biology in the summer of 2015 before going to Imperial for his undergraduate degree. He has kept in regular contact with us back at school since then.

Independent and highly motivated, Tom was well liked and respected by staff and peers alike. It was no surprise when he was elected as a prefect and then selected as Deputy Head of School: he marshalled younger pupils during school events and competitions with energy, verve and kindness. His qualities as a team-player were also evident on the sports field, where he represented the school in rugby, cricket, hockey and rowing, as well as volunteering to coach the younger cricketers for three years. He is an accomplished musician, and plays the piano and guitar to a high level. Tom is a balanced, intelligent and mature young man who would be an asset to any tutoring role. He rises to any challenge and I have no hesitation in recommending him to you wholeheartedly and most warmly.
