About Laura
Veteran Art teacher and mother of 4, music lover, practicing artist. I am looking forward to helping you find your inner artist or grow the artist you already know you are. As a holistic teacher, I teach art in a very personal way, paying close attention to your interests and curiosities Having taught for so long including 7 years of High School, I have taught Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Mixed-Media, Printmaking, and I have extensive experience in artful and design thinking.As your teacher, your journey becomes my journey. I will guide you through mediums, techniques, practices, and history that apply to what you are interested in learning.

I believe that art comes from art. I teach art and music history alongside materials and technique to provide both inspiration and guidance but also so that my students have a sense of ownership in every museum and gallery. Example lessons include
-landscapes with Alma Thomas
-city of dreams, Faith Ringgold’s Tar Beach and painting with acrylic and watercolor
-flat shapes, painting and collage with Jacob Lawrence and the Harlem Renaissance
-Architectural Design, drawing in linear Perspective

- Kandinsky or Af Klint Abstract geometric painting with watercolor
-Linocut Printmaking basics with Elizabeth Catlett and Charles White
