About Joshua
I recently earned my B.S. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from Florida Institute of Technology, where I completed observational research involving telescope performance, astronomical imaging, and data analysis. As an observatory assistant, I helped organize high-school astronomy programs and public star parties, and I developed lectures and learning activities for sixth-grade students at Kennedy Space Center. These experiences taught me to communicate technical ideas clearly to audiences with different backgrounds. I am organized, dependable, and committed to creating a respectful environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence.

My approach is to make math and physics intuitive rather than a list of formulas to memorize. Each lesson begins by identifying what the student understands and where they are getting stuck. From there, I provide a focused explanation, work through an example, and guide the student through related problems with progressively less assistance. I use diagrams, real-world applications, and questions that encourage students to explain their reasoning. My background in astrophysics, observational research, and observatory outreach helps me connect classroom topics to practical examples involving motion, energy, light, telescopes, and space. I work with middle and high school math and physics students, including AP Physics, as well as introductory college astronomy students.
