The lessons focus on pinpointing weaknesses in the student's understanding of concepts and allowing them to gradually work through them with assistance, eventually gaining independence.
Together with the student, we identify where their misconceptions often stem from and approach them through problem solving. A focal point of my teaching method is making sure the student grasps the bigger picture of each topic and how all topics relate to each other in retrospect. This is something I believe is often missing from school curricula due to time limitations.

  • 1) When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

    1) I became interested in mathematics in 9th grade, when I had the opportunity to participate in workshops and competitions that approached mathematics differently from what students typically see in school. I really appreciated the emphasis on problem-solving rather than memorizing methods and applying them without understanding why they work.
  • 2) What makes you passionate about your subject?

    2) I am passionate about problem-solving, especially when it involves modeling real-world problems and solving them using mathematics and statistics.
  • 3) What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

    3) The main reason I love tutoring and teaching in general is my own experience of going from not liking math to enjoying it in 9th grade. I realized that at least half of what makes students “good” at math and statistics is having the confidence to do it. When students lose confidence, they may become frustrated when something is not easy to understand, and this negative experience pushes them further away from attempting new problems, keeping them in a vicious cycle. I realized that even a small encouragement can break this cycle, and I find it incredibly rewarding to try to be that small force for someone else.
  • 4) Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

    4) My calculus teacher in 12th grade and a professor whose linear algebra class I attended during my undergraduate studies are my role models. Their expertise in their subjects and their ability to explain concepts intuitively were truly inspiring.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

    5) I believe the key to success for anyone in any field is loving what they do. I am fortunate to say that I genuinely love teaching.
