About Rowan
My name is Rowan Lewin Payne and I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor's degree in both Chemistry and Japanese Area Studies, and a cumulative GPA of 3.6. I have 2 years teaching experience in both Calculus and Chemistry, as well as extensive knowledge in other math and science courses. My primary goal is to help students understand subjects that they are struggling with, so that they can be more confident moving forward in their education.

My main goal is to ensure that students understand the subject they are studying, instead of memorizing the information. This is done by determining how much the student already knows and identifying any gaps in their foundation that may be stopping them from understanding the current material. From there I work with the student at their learning pace with tailored lesson plans to ensure the student's success.
A typical lesson plan includes a review of previous material, introduction of new material, and practice to reinforce the material. I have 2 years experience as a teaching assistant/adjunct lecture, and have used this method to help over 150 students succeed in their classes. I tutor students from middle school to college for a wide range of math and science subjects.
