About Jon
I am currently retired and based in Cape Town, South Africa.
I have 50 years of experience as a registered professional civil engineer in South Africa, specialized in water-related services, project development, design and implementation, as well as hydraulic design, hydrology, stochastic analysis, Excel and VBA programming.
I have been responsible for or involved at a senior level in the conceptualization, design and implementation of civil engineering projects to a total estimated value of over R5 billion over my career.
Prior to my retirement 2 years ago, I ran my own practice from home for 14 years, before which I was a director at one of the largest consulting civil engineering firms in South Africa.
I have provided mentoring and training to about 10 young engineers and technicians over the last 15 years.

a) Identify existing Student knowledge
b) Determine Student understanding of subject
c) Determine reasons for Student needing tutoring
d) confirm or not if my inputs will meet Student requirements
