About Kai
Hi! I’m Kai, a Columbia student majoring in Biomedical Engineering. I’ve tutored students in a variety of subjects, including SAT prep, math, college essays, and languages including Spanish, Latin, and Attic Greek. I always aim to create a comfortable and supportive environment where mistakes are not only okay, but encouraged as a part of the learning process! Hi! I’m Kai, a student at Columbia University studying Biomedical Engineering. My teaching approach emphasizes meeting students where they are, and helping them build their skills and confidence.
Each lesson will be tailored to the student’s specific goals or areas that they find challenging. A typical lesson plan would include a check-in, review of a topic or assignment, and then some guided exercises to reinforce the material. I want to help students fully understand concepts by applying their learnings to practice problems, reviewing challenging questions and spotting patterns, and then ultimately strategizing for the future! I also provide outside resources and custom tips/strategies as needed, especially for test/SAT preparation.
What sets me apart as a tutor and college essay advisor is my recent and extensive experience being in my students’ shoes – as a National Merit Finalist, Ivy League transfer, and full-ride scholarship recipient, I understand how overwhelming and demanding applications and testing can be. I aim to make this process feel less stressful, and to help you feel confident in what you submit!
I work with high schoolers and college applicants (first-year and transfer) of all levels. Whether you are just starting out your SAT prep, stuck on essays for your dream school, or want to boost your Calculus grade, I would love to help out!
