you need maths to do science. The technology we use today is built on a foundation of mathematics, and if the maths wasn't done first then there would be no technology. And I'm not just talking about computers and electronics here, I'm saying without maths we'd still be living in caves and maths is the purest form of art. Beauty constructed not from pigment on canvas or from vibrations of instruments but from ideas and thoughts. An incredible edifice of interlocking concepts that is endlessly fascinating, surprising, amazing and awe-inspiring. And what's more, it's an edifice that is entirely mental. It exists not in physical form but inside the heads of thousands of people across the world. Magnificent structures unconstrained by the real world, made of pure imagination and elegantly woven into their place, often not the place you'd expect, inspiring new ideas in a great, joyous cascade of marvels.
