About Lillian

My Creative Experience
I’ve had the joy of meeting incredible people while working on set with many different content creators! I assisted with background painting, prop fabrication, and tackled all sorts of crazy, fun artistic challenges that built up my versatile creative skills.

I have been a drawing tutor for nearly five years now. When it comes to teaching, my goal is to spark self-confidence. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a young artist (or any artist) genuinely proud of their creations. That moment of self-belief is what drives me. I know from experience how crucial it is for young students to feel “I really can do this!”

A Few Fun Facts About Me I have two silly cats, Booger and Pixie —who may want to say hello from time to time during online lessons! And my favorite subject to draw is mermaids.

Hey everyone!

In my class I prioritize a compassionate environment. I want students to feel comfortable making mistakes and really start exploring creativity!

Skill Assessment & Goal Setting: Our first step is to understand you. We will explore your current artwork, discuss what inspires you most, and pinpoint where you want your skills to be. This will make sure every lesson is meaningful and moves you toward your goals. We will cover this in the first session and usually ends up being around 35 min or less.

I'm known for working well with both shy, focused learners and high-energy, creative students. I will strive to match your energy level to keep the learning process engaging and fun, ensuring comfort and attention.

For my younger artists, the focus is on fun, foundational discovery!

- Fundamentals through Play: We use engaging, colorful warm-ups and projects to explore the principles of design, value, and mark-making.
- Integrated Inspiration: I incorporate historical artists and art concepts through quick, exciting examples and short presentations.
- Themed Projects: If a student loves a specific game, show, or animal (like cats!), I actively incorporate those themes into the lesson plans to keep them invested and excited about learning.

For teens and adults, we dive deeper into challenging techniques while maintaining a strong foundation.

- Systematic Skill Building: We still focus on fundamentals, but with more challenging warm-ups. We might dedicate a solid 15 minutes just to line work or form studies—you will see the value of this practice when the final results come.
- Developing a Motif: We work on creating a unified theme or motif, generating multiple sketches and variations around one subject. This approach trains you to demonstrate skill progression, creativity, and variety—a critical component for any serious art portfolio.
- Visual Resources: I use presentations and videos to demonstrate techniques and provide context from professional artists whose work aligns with the skills we are developing.

I strongly encourage all students to maintain a dedicated sketchbook for practice outside of our lessons. This reinforces muscle memory and ensures you see consistent, measurable improvement week after week.

  • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

Like many artists, I started drawing as a kid. I had an obsession with drawing my favorite cartoons and my brilliant fashion ideas on paper. I quickly realized how much I loved the creative side of life.
  • 2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

I am red-green colorblind so many artists that prefer to use lots of blues in their pieces attract me the most. Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh are two artists that tend to use lots of blues and they are both impressionist painters.
  • 3) What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

I have always believed anyone can draw, but you do have to try. Very rarely are people born prodigies so there has to be some effort there. Patience and consistency are very important when trying to succeed in this area.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

You have to be patient and okay with "failure". You're not going to like everything you create but you should always appreciate those steps that get you to where you want to be.
  • 5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

My passion is being creative with others and sharing that creativity with the world. There are so many reasons I love the art world and teaching others! Watching people grow and get better is satisfying enough, but to watch them LOVE what they make is the absolute best. I believe that drawing and painting are healing, when I work on my own I get lost in it. Making art gives you a moment of peace, reflection, and something to be proud of!
  • 6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I'm working on illustrating a children's book at the moment with a publisher and I can't wait to share it with ya'll.
  • 7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Absolutely, I never underestimate my students, they're a lot more capable than you might think.
  • 8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

You have to be dedicated and show up. Remember that you're going to make an impact on your students, so be consistent, positive, and patient. If you create a good environment you will know from your feedback, hearing that they're comfortable and excited to join the lesson is proof you're doing something right.
