About Darayat

Hi! I'm Darra, a Science (Mathematics) /Education (Secondary) student at UNSW.

I loved math during my high-school years, so much so, that I consistently attended 10+ hours of tutoring per week for Maths Ext. 1, Ext. 2, Physics, and English, achieving a 91 ATAR, and a Band 6 in both Maths Extension courses (94 | 91).

After my HSC, I joined a very reputable company in Hornsby where I worked from 2022 - 2024.
I was even awarded the Class Teacher of the Year award at the end of 2023 after my first year of class teaching! I have 3 years of experience mentoring students in one-on-one and group sessions.

I believe that the key to success in mathematics, and all skill-based subjects, lies in understanding the theory behind the applications, and by breaking down complex concepts into clear, digestible steps. I always encourage prioritising patience and ensure my students feel comfortable and confident with everything they learn.

About the lesson

Every lesson is different to the last. I always aim to help my students find the best path forward, and make sure they leave the session feeling prepared for the week/month/test ahead.

I ask for an update for the past week, then help make a plan for the week forward and discuss what we'll do for that lesson. This usually consists of maths content and doing questions together, but I tailor it to the needs of the student. I don't just offer tutoring, I offer mentoring.

We may:
- Work on assignments (Math, Physics, Engineering Studies, and more)
- Discuss scaling and how the HSC works
- Go through the Syllabus and rate dot-points wit G/Y/R or 1-5
- Make a study plan and discuss how to allocate time to each subject
- Help make difficult decisions like picking up Maths Ext. 2 or drop Ext. 1 or even Advanced down to Standard.

One hour is standard lesson time, however if 1.5h is preferable or perhaps 2 x 30 mins weekly works better, I'm more than open to it! Let's discuss it in our first phone call :D Please call or text at any time!

My Base rates are 60ph at a Library, and 40ph over Zoom/Discord/Facetime.
However, if the student is taking Extension subjects or wants help with multiple subjects - I may charge more, but let's discuss it!
