About Bethany

I was born and raised in Hong Kong and had most of my musical training over there. I have just completed my A Levels at Durham School where I have received an A in A-Level Music. have been a pianist for 14 years and am still receiving private piano lessons through the help of my music scholarship at school. I have taken my grade 8 ABRSM examination in Christmas 2020, and will be taking my diploma ARSM examination next month. I have also been learning the cello for under 4 years and now at a grade 7 level. I have played the cello with the school orchestra as well as the piano in piano concertos. I have won the school's annual music competition and the Ryton and Distric music festival. I have also been in charge of running musical groups in singing, quartets and duets. I have recently been enrolled in Northumbria University in Newcastle to study Criminology. Although I will not be continuing my music studies outside the classroom, I will definitely continue to pursue music performance and teaching on the side.

About the lesson

I will provide lessons for beginners grade 1 level to an intermediate level of grade 5. Lessons can be half an hour or an hour, depending on the child's needs and attention span. I have been a tutoree for 14 years in piano and cello; This has given me a clear understanding of how to bring out the full potential of a child in musical studies. I intend on teaching and perfecting the techniques of playing the piano, however my main focus is bringing out the musicality in a student and applying it to the piano. I find this one of the most important aspects of becoming a musician, as the sense of musicality and connecting with the instrument and piece can make a great impact on the music.
