About Barney
My name is Barney and I am currently studying towards a Masters in Engineering at Durham University.
I have always had a passion for teaching, volunteering at school to help lead a group of students teaching design and technology in local schools. This involved lesson planning and time structuring, as well as finding creative ways of explaining maths, physics and engineering principles in simple terms through interactive activities.
For subjects like maths and physics I firmly believe in a "show, don't tell" style of teaching, with lessons based around interesting but challenging examples that build understanding through out of the box thinking. For exam preparation I also believe it is important to not only complete a healthy number of past questions, but also use the mark schemes to fully understand how the students can express their thinking in a clear and concise way.
