About the lesson

I take a flexible, learner-centred approach to tutoring that focuses on building both confidence and competence. My sessions are structured yet adaptable, allowing me to tailor each lesson to suit the student’s learning style, pace, and goals. I use a mix of techniques including: Guided problem solving, helping students work through questions step-by-step. Visual explanations for abstract concepts, especially in maths and science. Confidence-building tasks to help students feel more capable and less anxious about tests or difficult topics. Regular check-ins and reviews to identify gaps in understanding and track progress. Lesson Structure Most lessons are 60 minutes long, which allows enough time to review past material, introduce new concepts, and practise applying them. For younger learners or focused revision sessions, I also offer 30-minute and 90-minute options depending on attention span and workload. Experience & Qualifications I have: Experience tutoring KS2 SATs in maths and science, helping pupils prepare effectively for their end-of-year assessments. A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newcastle University, giving me a strong foundation in STEM subjects.
