About Jeffrey
Hello there! I'm thrilled to introduce myself to you as a rising sophomore at Cornell University, pursuing a degree in Engineering Physics. My name is Jeffrey, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others understand complex concepts.
One of the main reasons I would make a fantastic tutor for high schoolers and middle schoolers is my extensive background in teaching. Growing up in a household with seven siblings, I've always been surrounded by opportunities to explain and teach various subjects. This experience has honed my skills in breaking down complex ideas into simpler, more understandable pieces, making learning a fun and engaging experience for my students.
As an engineering physics student, I have a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, and other science-related subjects. Every student has different needs. I work with tutees to develop individualized lesson plans best suited to their goals, experience level, and timeline. Lessons include the following:
- Questions the tutee has regarding course material
- Questions I select that are especially instructive for the relevant material / are effective at preparing students for the material they should expect to see on an upcoming exam
- Discussion/explanation of concepts, with an iPad/Apple Pencil used when necessary to explain visual concepts
- Check-ins from previously covered concepts to ensure growth and to motivate restructuring of lesson plans if goals are not being met
