About Kirstie
Hi there, my name is Kirstie, I am a Post-doctoral researcher at a University focusing on Materials Science and Engineering. I have always been passionate about Maths and Science which has led me to peruse an academic career in Materials Science. I am a confident and hard-working tutor and I am excited to share my knowledge that I have attained during my studies to help students to reach their full potential. I have taught over 100 hours in private tuition helping my students to not only pass their exams but achieve high grades. I am a qualified graduate teaching assistant whereby I have gained experience in teaching Physics and Materials Engineering at both Degree and Postgraduate degree level. I offer tutoring from KS3 to A level in Maths, combined science, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I have a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Manchester, before starting my PhD I gained a first-class degree in Design with Materials Engineering from Loughborough University. I am flexible with regards to hours and I am sure I can find a time that works for you.

My teaching method involves firstly, understanding the key areas you as a student may be struggling with by having a chat and talking through the syllabus. I then base my classes on key areas that may need addressing in the syllabus and always discuss topics with the student so we can tailor each lesson to maximise progress. I approach each topic by breaking down the fundamentals using infographics, examples and finally exam-style questions. I find being as interactive as possible is very valuable in the learning experience.
