About Mitra

I am a practicing artist with more than 20 years of experience in painting and drawing, supported by a strong academic background in art and design.
I studied art at the undergraduate level and later completed a post-baccalaureate certificate in Art and Design at UC Berkeley. My teaching experience includes leading watercolor workshops, teaching drawing, and serving as a professor's assistant in beginning painting at Sonoma Slate University.
My artistic experience extends beyond painting and drawing into digital photography, ceramics, and printmaking. Working across different mediums has shaped the way I teach. I help students understand not only the technique, but also composition, observation, color, creative thinking, and how to develop their artistic voice.
I believe every student approaches art differently. My role is to provide strong technical foundations, thoughtful guidance, and encouraging environment where students can experiment, improve, and become more confident in their work.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalized around each student's experience, interests, and artistic goal. Whether you are picking up a pencil or a brush for the first time, returning to art after years away, or looking to strengthen an existing practice, we will build the lessons around where you want to go.
Rather than simply showing you what to make, I teach you how to see, understand, and make artistic decisions for yourself.
A typical lesson combines demonstration, guided practice, individual work, and constructive feedback. Beginners receive clear step-by-step instruction, while more experienced students can focus on refining technique, exploring new approaches, and developing a more individual artistic voice.
Lessons are available privately or in groups, online or in person. My goal is to create an encouraging but thoughtful environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, asking questions, and growing as artists.
