About Imani
Hello! My name is Miss Walker, and I’m excited to support your child’s learning journey. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and have hands-on experience working with K–3rd grade students as an instructional aide. I’ve also coached gymnastics for children and teens ages 5–18, which has helped me develop patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills. My approach to tutoring is warm, structured, and encouraging—I believe in meeting students where they are and helping them grow through consistent support and personalized instruction. Whether your child needs help catching up or wants to build on their strengths, I’m here to make learning a positive and productive experience. As a tutor with a strong foundation in early childhood education and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, I bring a unique blend of academic knowledge and hands-on experience to every session. I’ve worked closely with K–3rd–grade students as an instructional aide, supporting diverse learners across reading, writing, and math. My approach combines structured skill-building with creativity, using visual aids, games, and guided practice to make each lesson engaging and tailored to your child’s needs.
A typical session starts with a quick review, then introduces new material in a way that fits your child’s learning style—whether that’s through stories, manipulatives, or step-by-step breakdowns. We work through practice problems together, with ongoing encouragement and real-time feedback. Sessions end with a fun recap or challenge to reinforce the concept.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and motivate them through patience, positivity, and consistency. My experience coaching gymnastics for ages 5–18 has strengthened my ability to build confidence, focus, and goal-setting skills in young learners. I understand how to keep kids engaged, whether they’re just learning to read or tackling early math problems.
