About Destiny

As an experienced tutor, I bring a strong interdisciplinary background to my teaching practice. I hold a Master's degree in Pharmacy, where I earned first-class honours for my dissertation on "The Effects of SGLT2 Inhibitors on Protecting Against Oxidative Stress in Cardiac and Renal Cells." My academic journey includes A-levels in Biology, Chemistry, and English, reflecting a solid foundation in STEM subjects. I have a year's experience practising as a pharmacist at leading UK public hospitals, including King's College Hospital, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), and St Thomas' Hospital. I secured this role by achieving high marks in the Oriel exam, a national recruitment scheme for foundation trainee pharmacists, placing within the top 20% in the country. Beyond my scientific expertise, I possess excellent essay writing and analytical skills, particularly in humanities subjects such as English, Religious Studies, Sociology, and History. This diverse skill set enables me to provide comprehensive tutoring across a wide range of GCSE subjects, tailoring my approach to meet each student's unique needs. My tutoring approach has yielded significant improvements in student performance. Over the past three years, 98% of my students have achieved grades A* to B (9-6) in their exams, with 80% attaining a minimum of A grades (9-7) Additionally, students have reported a 50% increase in confidence and engagement in their studies after participating in my tutoring sessions.

About the lesson

In my tutoring sessions, I follow a structured approach to maximise student engagement and learning outcomes: 1. Session Opening: Relationship-Building Greeting and Rapport: I begin each session with a warm greeting and engage in light conversation to build rapport, helping students feel comfortable and valued. 2. Review and Goal Setting We discuss previous lessons and address any challenges faced with homework assignments. Establish Objectives: Together, we set clear goals for the current session, aligning them with the student's long-term academic aspirations. 3. Content Delivery and Practice Interactive Teaching: I introduce new concepts using diverse materials—such as diagrams, multimedia, and interactive activities—to cater to various learning styles. 4. Guided Practice: We work through practice questions together, applying the "I Do, We Do, You Do" technique to ensure understanding and proficiency. 4. Exam Preparation and Strategy Answer Structuring: I teach effective methods for organising and presenting answers to exam questions, emphasising clarity and coherence. 5. Revision Tips: We discuss proven revision strategies to enhance retention and recall during exams. Session Closure and Homework Assignment Summarisation: We recap the key points covered in the session, reinforcing the learned material. Homework and Resources: I assign relevant homework to reinforce learning and provide additional resources for further study. This structured approach ensures that each session is comprehensive, engaging, and tailored to the student's individual needs, fostering both academic growth and a positive learning experience.
