About Kailyn

I am a Bachleor's degree registered nurse (achieved from Texas Woman's University) with 3 years of experience in my field, mostly spent in adult health and neurology. I have a passion for education and teaching our youth the importance of science at a young age. I am also currently a master's student at Texas Woman's University, going for my Acute Care NP and Nursing Education. I currently teach 9th grade level Biology to a homeschool student and have been for the past 6 months.

I love watching kids teach me the material. Teaching is the best way to learn things and I like to act like more of a guide than a teacher. I can help guide them to the correct answer but they need to grab it themselves. It's so rewarding to hear a student explain something to me because then I know they have the understanding they need, not just a memorization of material. Science is exciting and I love to light the fire of excitement!!

I have always been interested in education and have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to teach my neighbor's homeschooled daughter. I have enjoyed it so much that I wanted to branch out and share my love of teaching and science to other kids as well!

Bachleor's Degree in Science with a major in Nursing from Texas Woman's University.

About the lesson

Initally, we need to review what the student's specific needs are. Whether it is teaching science to a homeschool student, to supplementing exisiting knowledge, or helping a child that is falling behind in science, I have you covered. I am willing to work with whatever your child's needs are to personalize a lesson plan for them. Our first meeting will be a short evaluation of their current knowlegde in science to help give me an idea of areas of interest and struggle. I strongly believe in Montessori methods and having the student teach in order to better learn the material.

I focus on high school and middle school level students.

I recently had my student do a full demonstration of the carbon cycle and make it relatable and understandable to her family and friends. She got dressed up for her presentation and we were all very proud of her confidence of the subject matter.

Standard pricing is $30/hour. Any textbooks, lab equipment, and supplies are covered by that rate. First evaluation meeting is free for all new clients.
